Finley Peter Dunne was a columnist for the Chicago Evening Post in the 1890ýs. Many compare his style and influence to that of the late Mike Royko. Finley Dunne told all his editorials through the eyes of a Bartender named Mr. Dooley. Mr. Dooley spoke in broken English that catered to all the Irish of the time. His editorials would range from national politics to local education reform. He became so popular that his works became nationally syndicated. Because of his strong belief in the neighborhood tavern and his strong Chicago history, we felt it fitting to honor Finley Peter Dunne. |
